Devotional-Philippians 4:7

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7 NIV)

The peace of God provides immeasurable wealth that we must withdraw daily. The Holy Spirit stands as our everlasting teller expediting unmentioned requests to fulfill every unknown need. This thought alone should provoke minds to rest; God knows our every need before we know of them ourselves. However simple it requires discipline. We must actively welcome the Holy Spirit and not grieve Him. The peace of God is one of the treasures the Holy Spirit affords us through the glory of Christ revealed in the gospel and our faith in Him. Hence why Jesus said it was good he departs from us. His departure provided us the promise of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our advocate, who will always help us and be with us (John 14:15-17 NIV). The Holy Spirit reminds us that the Lord God is our forever portion. If we receive nothing else, we in Christ Jesus have received the ultimate true blessing of being reconciled to God. We can come home to our Lord God our Father in heaven. No longer must we wander aimlessly in travail and distress. He is our portion, our love, our companion, our home, our everything. He will permeate our inner parts with His peace. A peace that will firmly stand at the entryway of our hearts, guarding against tempestuous waves vying to kill steal and destroy. In not grieving the Holy Spirit, we allow the meditation of our hearts to reflect the assurance of king David in Psalm 23:

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake ” (Psalm 23: 1-3 KJV).
