Consistent Faith
Learning to endure in faith proves difficult when negative emotions and mental states seize us. Purpose and promise become hard to believe when discouragement, disappointment, grief and agony trample the heart and depress the soul. What do we do when mental and, or emotional misery refuses to release us? We must endure in our faith in Christ Jesus. Enduring in faith means reaching for God, staying with Him and seeking His face no matter what happens or does not happen. Reach for God with hands scalded by the fiery trials of life and trust that God causes all things to work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purposes (Romans 8:28 AMP).
Enduring in faith requires having consistent faith, believing that our Lord God is and always will be God. Always being forever sovereign, wise and faithful. Despite what happens or does not happen, God stays the same and is always in control. Despite delayed answers to prayers and persistent problems, God’s goodness and grace remains constant and sufficient. Consistent faith helps us better receive the gifts, grace, wisdom and strength God has for us to survive various seasons in life. This is not to say that our Lord God is limited by our inconsistency. He can achieve all things with or without us. However, consistent faith helps us become aligned with God’s will and purposes. As we lift our eyes and hands in reverence to God and all He has planned, God orders our steps to His pace and timing. Our Lord God desires us to be with Him every step of the way. He does not want us to go through life without Him. Interactive and Intimate, God desires relationship with us, but relationship requires both parties to be consistent in their commitment to one another. In the world commitment in relationships vary depending on individual preferences. But for our Lord God a committed relationship begins once we have faith in Christ Jesus, and this relationship continues through consistent faith. Having consistent faith in Christ Jesus involves believing our Father in heaven is a forever sufficient and reliable source of strength and support.
How to obtain consistent faith:
We can obtain consistent faith through prayer and putting God first in all areas of our lives. In prayer we must be honest and vulnerable with God. He already sees what is in our heart mind and soul, yet He is waiting for us to give Him everything that is in us. We must relinquish and confess everything we feel, think or might be experiencing to God, and fully trust he will provide exactly what we need to get through everything. If we give God our unbearable emotions and circumstances, He will give us beauty for ashes.
To put God first we must be willing to set aside everything we had in mind for our lives. We must be ok with watching our dreams, comfort and preferences die for God to be glorified. In this journey of having a heart for God is the promise of His everlasting provision. As Hebrews 11:6 states, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him”.
